VPR: Responsible Approach to Extraction and Environmental Protection
ME “Volynpryrodresurs” is an enterprise created for the legal extraction of amber in the Volyn region. This municipal enterprise also specializes in peat extraction and covers areas in the Kamin-Kashirsk, Lutsk, and Kovel districts.
In terms of area for extraction, “VPR” is the largest in Ukraine, as its sites extend over more than 600 square kilometers. ME “Volynpryrodresurs” pays special attention to analyzing the impact of its activities on the environment and natural surroundings, followed by the restoration of worked-out areas.
Preservation of Natural Resources
One of the main priorities of the company is the preservation of natural resources and biodiversity in the areas where amber and peat extraction takes place. The municipal enterprise “Volynpryrodresurs” takes measures to minimize the impact of its activities on ecosystems and natural habitats.
Monitoring and Control Over Compliance with Environmental Standards
ME “Volynpryrodresurs” conducts continuous monitoring of the environmental state and the impact of its activities on the natural environment. The enterprise implements strict control over compliance with environmental standards and requirements for nature protection.
To analyze the potential impact of its activities on the surrounding environment, the enterprise has engaged scientists from Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University. A memorandum has been signed with the university, and this collaboration has been in effect for three years. The scientists from VNU study not only peat bogs and amber extraction sites but also adjacent territories. Such observations are carried out throughout the entire growing season, with at least 3-4 field trips conducted for each object: these include field studies, water analysis, radiation levels, as well as flora and fauna assessments.
Щоб здійснювати такий моніторинг на базі ВНУ імені Лесі Українки створили наукову групу, до якої входять науковці факультету біології та лісового господарства, географічного факультету та факультету хімії та екології. Керівником наукової групи є кандидат географічних наук, доцент кафедри геодезії, землевпорядкування та кадастру Волинського національного університету імені Лесі Українки Володимир Радзій. До таких обширних досліджень залучають також і студентів ВНУ імені Лесі Українки.

Виконавцем досліджень з моніторингу впливу планової діяльності на якість поверхневих та підземних вод є Державна установа «Інститут охорони ґрунтів України», Волинська філія державної установи «Інститут охорони ґрунтів України».
Проведення моніторингу впливу планової діяльності на якість атмосферного повітря на межі санітарно-захисної зони здійснюється ТОВ «Волиньекопромпроект». Ситуацію із впливом на флору та фауну відстежували науковці Волинського національного університету імені Лесі Українки. Волинський центр з гідрометеорології моніторив стан радіаційного фону.
Загальний висновок: всі екологічні показники в нормі, вплив від діяльності на екосистему та природні угіддя мінімальний, рекультивовані після проведення робіт території у відмінному стані.

Співпраця з місцевими громадами та органами влади
«Волиньприродресурс» активно співпрацює з місцевими громадами та органами влади для забезпечення сталого розвитку та охорони довкілля. Компанія враховує думку місцевих жителів та впроваджує заходи, спрямовані на збереження природних ресурсів.
Усі проєкти щодо майбутніх об'єктів для видобутку торфу та бурштину проходили процедуру громадського обговорення. Тобто мешканці тих населених пунктів, де планували видобування, мали змогу почути вичерпні відповіді щодо цієї діяльності. Такі зустрічі з громадськістю ініціюють та організовують Міністерство захисту довкілля та природних ресурсів України та Управління екології та природних ресурсів Волинської ОВА.
