ENTERPRISE HISTORY

On 10 March 2016, the Volyn Regional Council of the seventh convocation adopted Decision No. 3/18, initiated by Ihor Palytsia, to establish Municipal Enterprise Volynpryrodresurs of the Volyn Regional Council.

The Volyn Regional Council established Municipal Enterprise Volynpryrodresurs to explore mineral resources and legally mine amber. This would create new jobs and replenish the budget for both the Volyn Regional Council and the state.

On 2 February 2017, Municipal Enterprise Volynpryrodresurs of the Volyn Regional Council received from the State Service of Geology and Mineral Resources of Ukraine (Derzhheonadra), with the approval of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine:

Four special permits (No. 6172, No. 6173, No. 6174 and No. 6175) for the use of subsoil for amber extraction purposes for a period of 20 years.
Four special permits (No. 6176, No. 6177, No. 6178 and No. 6179) were granted for the use of subsoil for the extraction of peat suitable for briquettes and compost, also for a period of 20 years.
On 13 March 2017, they also received a special permit (No. 6189) for the use of subsoil for the extraction of complex copper ores for a period of 20 years.

ME Volynpryrodresurs is the largest enterprise in Ukraine established for the legal extraction of amber, peat, and complex copper ore. It has a total licensed area of 51,524.7 hectares (515.247 km²) for amber extraction, 6,364.0 hectares (63.64 km²) for peat extraction, and 3,140 hectares (31.4 km²) for copper ore extraction. These territories cover the Kamin-Kashyrskyi, Lutsk, and Kovel districts of the Volyn Region.

VPR holds all the relevant subsoil use permits and operates in full compliance with Ukrainian legislation. ME Volynpryrodresurs is responsible for the first legally extracted amber in Volyn. All work is carried out in line with environmental regulations and includes regular environmental monitoring, mining, and biological reclamation. The enterprise follows the principles of transparency in its production, operations, and services.

According to official data and reports, in 2023 Volynpryrodresurs became the national leader in amber extraction, with a total of 14,667.27 kg extracted.
